How can I tell the model of my heater or stove?

The easiest way to find out the model of your heater or stove is to see the nameplate. The nameplate is a sticker that states the safety distances and the model of the heater or stove in addition to warning texts.

Electric heaters

On electric heaters, the nameplate is usually located near the bottom, on the front side. On some models, the nameplate can also be located on the left or right side near the bottom. The model designation of an electric heater consists of 1‒3 letters and 2 numbers. Depending on the control method of the heater, the model may be followed by one or two E’s, which are also part of the model designation.

On the newest models, the model of the heater is marked on a list of models. The word ‘type’ is written above the list.

The model is not always marked separately on a list. For example, the model of a Vega heater is written next to the power and operating voltage of the heater. The most common location of the heater model designation is next to the power marking.

On older heater models, the type of the heater is marked with a sticker. The sticker is located inside a box with the word ‘type’. The box usually features a pre-printed letter or letter combination. The combination of the letter(s) and the sticker forms the model of the heater. The print often features a model list that you can refer to when forming the model combination.

Wood-heated stoves

On wood-heated stoves, the nameplate is usually located on the ashdump door. A printed sticker serves as the nameplate on wood-heated stoves as well. In addition to the model of the stove, the nameplate contains information such as warning texts and safety distances.

The model designation of a wood-heated stove usually consists of the name of the stove and a few numbers. The combination is followed by additional markings if the stove features a water tank or if wood is inserted from the other side of the wall. The additional markings are also part of the model designation.

On most models, the model of the stove is marked on a list of models. You can see on the list that some model designations for wood-heated stoves consist of merely a number.
